'Vision 2040' Second Working Draft - Parliamentary Session

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The National Development Plan Secretariat and the Inter-American Development Bank Group on Wednesday hosted parliamentarians to a discussion on the Bahamas National Development Planning Institute Bill (2025) and National Development Plan (NDP) in the Compass Rose Ballroom, Margaritaville Beach Resort, themed 'Vision 2040 - The National Development Plan of The Bahamas.' The Second Working Draft.

NDP Chairman Felix Stubbs welcomed the forum, while IDB Group Country Representative Shirley Gayle advised on IDB and NDP partnership and cooperation; IDB Senior Economist Manuel Castro spoke on Global Experiences with National Development Plans.

The National Development Plan comprises a 25-year roadmap for the nation's development, providing comprehensive policy structure to guide government decision-making and investment, and foster modern and accountable governance. The Plan comprises extensive research, analysis and widespread public consultation to address four policy pillars: The Economy, Governance, Social Policy and Environment (Natural and Built).

Felix Stubbs and the Law Reform Commission tackled aspects of the NDP Bill. Researchers Jade Gray and Amber Turner advised on the progress tracker of the NDP document. And Marketing Consultant Anastarcia Palacious addressed the Marketing and Communications Strategy.

Parliamentarians, permanent secretaries and other officials attended. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Philip Davis and Opposition Leader Michael Pintard gave remarks.
